Veni, Vidi, Vici!: ARTIC

Today RJB and I took a spin through the Art Institute of Chicago. On our very first date, we went to ARTIC so it holds a special place in my heart. We are also members so we try to go whenever we have time. Honestly, if you are in to art, I recommend becoming a member of your local museum so you can take in the museum's permanent exhibits piece by piece rather than becoming exhausted trying to see it all in one shot (shuffle shuffle shuffle...my feet hurt...stand stand stand...my back hurts....grimace grimace grimace....that guy is totally pretending that he knows all about art to impress his girlfriend....) Anywho, today we decided to go primarily to visit our favorite pieces (yes, that sounds totally snobbish, sorry). RJB has rented a few documentaries about American contemporary art lately and wanted to visit the some of the artists' pieces.

We also saw the exhibits In the Vernacular and Modern in America: Works on Paper. At the end of the month, there will be an exhibit of William Eggleston's work and I cannot wait!!!! I may drag RJB to the member's preview as a free date night. And I discovered Eggleston will be at the museum on the 27th to sign books. Eek!!! I am totally going to walk down there (from the office which will by my second home at that time) to wait in line early.

For Christmas, my folks got me a book about the history of the Chicago Loop. The original stock exchange entrance was in it, and I learned that ARTIC had it on display. We discovered it today at the Columbus St. end of the Museum.
