Hello friends. I know it's been awhile. Since my last posting, RJB and I have travelled from east coast to west of the mighty Mississippi (just RJB) to the Bayou City and back again. We have seen a lot of family and friends and have continued to navigate through the wonders of newlywed life.
We ran the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. It wasn't too cold but we had a lot of rain (better than snow, I'd say). The path had huge puddles that caused traffic jams every so often. Despite my interest in running more (hmmm...seems to be an unfortunate theme) I ran a few minutes slower than last year.
We had the One-Two Turkey punch again this year (which I LOVE). Met up with RJB's folks on Turkey Day, then mine the day after. Good thing I love turkey! So does RJB...here he is thinking "man, I could use some more turkey!"
Next we were off to Houston. Oddly enough, when we arrived in Houston, it was snowing. Yep. Snow. Cold weather. Freezing wind. People who cannot drive in snow and get overly wound up about it. Indeed. We checked out RJB's old crib, school (we wanted to get a closer look but there was a police car in the front drive and we figured it would look weird to do a drive by/u-ey when we have no children attending the school), the church RJB was baptized, Splashtown USA, and Old Town Spring.

This is the hamburger place in OTS. RJB and I both have fond childhood memories of this place. And the burgers are still good!
We stayed at the St. Regis in the Galleria area (bliss!). Again, we ran into more childhood memories, only this time of the skating rink in the center of Galleria so off we went to do some window shopping. In the parking lot we spied some slammin' rims and tried to get a picture but then got worried that perhaps someone was in the car (the windows were so dark you couldn't see in at all.)
From Houston we took off to Beaumont, which is the real reason why we were in Tejas in the first place. One of my girls from Dallas was getting married (huge year for weddings!) We had quality time with ADF, JMB (yes, another JMB), CCB, MA, and a few other D-town friends (and of course the bride and groom!).

On Pearl Harbor Day I officially changed my name: surrendered my TX drivers license for an IL one, paid for plates and registration, applied for an IL title, and paid for my city parking sticker. Holy cow! Wild guess on how long this took.... A whopping 2 hours, including my walk from the office to the city buildings. That's it. Updating credit cards hasn't been too bad, but it will take awhile to get all of them updated (the most-used ones are). Still need to hit the bank and update my passport as well, which I will handle next month. The work email has changed, and I have new business cards. It is weird signing my new name and introducing myself with the new name but I'll get used to by the end of busy season.
So there's the update. I have some more pictures to download from the trusty old camera and more posting to do. Look forward to more cooking, holidays, and perhaps some random ramblings postings. I have all next week off (thank goodness - I need it!) so I should have some quality blogging time on my hands.
