Anywho, the trip was nice. Highlights include seeing God of Carnage and its all star cast. To think we were mere yards away from "Tony Soprano"....it was great. The MoMA was outstanding as well. There was a nice selection of Matisse, Picasso, Rothko (RJB's fav), and my fav, Pollock. We did pick up a second Rothko print and a Van Gogh for our crib. Alas, no Pollock.
We fancied a nice restaurant that we came upon first by a travel guide and then a robust second by CCB - Becco. It was fantastic. It is too bad RJB and I didn't get a picture of ourselves that night - I was looking smashing enough to get a compliment by a woman on the way back from Becco! Ha ha indeed!
It did rain a good portion of our trip, thus our photos are limited to the one day it was nice (also limited by our short duration in the city). We did agree we need to go back to take in the rest of the city. Not sure when that will be as we have several destinations in mind for future holiday. (can you tell I am dealing with a lot of Europeans at work this summer?...ah, to take holiday for three weeks....).
We headed in and out of the city by way of Penn Station. While we were waiting to leave (on July 4th), the place was uber mobbed. Standing and waiting, the ebb and flow of bodies almost made me feel something akin to motion sickness. It was very odd to feel this way while not moving, though seeing the few men in white pants, seersucker sports coats, scarfs, and white boat shoes helped ground me (yes, odd).
I am planning a rather bold post in the near future. It is something that I have been stewing on since moving to The Big City and was brought to a head during the NYC trip. All about self awareness. Oh yes, be prepared. The soapbox is coming out...
